Walk in My Shoes

On Friday 10th of October, it was World Mental Health Day. To celebrate this important day, we had a dress-up day entitled 'Walk in My Shoes'. With that, we had the opportunity to wear "funky" or "mis-matched" shoes.                                                                                                    This event, that is celebrated all over Ireland, helps raise awareness of mental health in our communities. The money our school raised was then donated to St Patrick's Helpline, which offers people advice and someone to talk to if they do have any issues.

All the students in the school were fully supportive about the event and brought in the €2 which was donated. They saw it as a way of educating themselves about an important issue in the world today

I think it's a fantastic thing that we, as a school, are raising awareness for such an important cause, that affects so many people worldwide. It gives people who, do suffer from mental health issues, the confidence to get help and encourages them to talk to someone if they are having problems.

Digital Dossier

Your digital dossier is a file of information gathered about you since before your birth.
Everytime you send a message, update something or even like something, it is added to your digital dossier.
Most people don't even know what it is. It starts before you are even born. Sonograms of you in the womb that is uploaded or sent by your parents begins your digital dossier. Everything that you search on Google, watch on Youtube, send on your phone or do on Facebook, is added to your growing file that is your digital dossier.

People don't realise they even have one and think that because it is deleted from their computer's history that is gone forever. That is not true!

There will be a record of it forever and in years to come, a possible employer would just have to google your name and they would find out all your information and history through your photos, messages and posts.

In my opinion, it is important to have an idea of what your digital dossier is, so you can be more wary and cautious of what you do online.

Fun Walk

Last week, the whole school was celebrating Anti-Bullying Week. To finish the week off, we have the Fun Walk at the end of the week every year.

My class(Class Ariel) danced to a compilation of Under The Sea, the theme song from Jaws, Dangerous Love and On Top Of The World. Our tutor, Mr Lawless, was dressed as a shark and we were all the fish.

All the other dances were really good and the teachers were so funny!

My class had to stand at every corner and make sure everyone crossed the road safely. In total, the walk took about 40 minutes.

Unfortunately, our class didn't win, but we still had a lot of fun doing it!
